Boundaries
Today’s Scripture:
When they arrived at the house, Jesus wouldn’t let anyone go in with him except Peter, John, James, and the little girl’s father and mother.
(Luke 8:51, NLT)
Word of the day:
In today’s scripture, Jesus comes to pray for a little girl who has passed away. When he got home, everyone was crying and sad. He told them she wasn’t dead, she was sleeping, and they started laughing and teasing. No wonder he only allowed Peter, James, John, and the girl’s parents to stay with him in the room and witness the resurrection of the child.
Jesus could have performed this miracle in front of everyone. But He removed others to show us how important it is to be around people who talk about life and hope, and who agree with what we believe. When you are in trouble, you must keep your mind filled with thoughts of faith. You can’t let negative, frustrated people tell you it can never happen. Get out of a negative environment, away from people who promote your dysfunction, away from people who tell you where you are, you will always be there. You have to set a limit.
A prayer for today:
“Father, thank you for the people you brought into my life who were positive and encouraged my faith. Help me build strong relationships with them and keep my distance from negative and frustrating people. I’ll make sure to set the right limits. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
