5 Christian Quotes That Inspire Hope

Christian quotes are known to bring hope and inspiration to our lives. If you’re like me, you might enjoy reading various quotes and seeing which one works for you. I am an avid reader; Therefore, I am always on the lookout for inspirational quotes and words. If you need hope, here are five Christian quotes that are sure to invigorate you on your Christian journey:

1. Peyton Garland, Tired, Hungry, & Kinda Faithful

As I read this beautiful book, I took notes and jotted down a few quotes to keep with me. My favourite quote that Peyton Garland gives in this book is: “If we follow Christ, we will not get out of the hard times. We will tire and find our faith tested. People will call us liars, pretend they don’t know us and try to instil grief in our lives. Still, we firmly believe that Christ is worth it. He wants us to bloom with petals that endure the desert” (Peyton Garland, Tired, Hungry, & Katherine Faithful, 18).

This quote by Peyton Garland lifts our hearts from the depths and reminds us that Christ is worthy of all the difficult times we will face because, as Peyton Garland said, “Christ is worthy of everything.” Following Jesus does not mean that everything has rainbows and butterflies. In fact, it would be quite the opposite. Jesus did not promise us “good times,” nor did he promise to save us from all our trials. Instead, He promises that He will always be with us, walking faithfully by our side (Psalm 23).

As Peyton Garland reminds us in this quote, God wants us to grow.

  1. C. S. Lewis, Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The second Christian quote that ignites hope is C. Quote from S. Lewis of The Dawn Treader, “Courage, dear heart.” The context surrounding this quote is Aslan talking to Lucy. Lucy and the others feared that Aslan was pointing them in the wrong direction, but Aslan reminded Lucy, “Courage, dear heart”. The same is true for us today. We need not fear because God is always with us. We can have courage because we know we can trust God and the direction He is leading us.

Hope is difficult to find, but we can put our hope in the One we know is God. We can trust him because he loves, cares for, and strengthens us. When you need hope, remember the short, simple yet inspiring words of C.S. Lewis:
“Courage, dear heart”. While it is between Lucy and Aslan, the same can be said between us as individuals and God. The Lord looks down at us and whispers to us to be courageous. We have courage because we know we can hope in Christ because He is the anchor of our souls (Hebrews 6:19).

  1. Elisabeth Elliot
The third Christian quote that ignites hope is by Elisabeth Elliot:
“You can never lose what you have given to Christ. This quote gives hope to our souls because it reminds us of the important truth that we can never lose what we have given to Christ. As Christians, we need not lose hope because all that we have given to Christ will be kept safe. Our lives, our hearts and our hopes rest safely in the arms of Jesus. Let this truth encourage your heart today.

All the faith, hope, hope and charity we offer in Christ will never be lost. Our hope can be firmly established in his name because he is worthy of our hope. God will never let us down. Through the hills and valleys, the Lord will always be with us (Psalm 23). God brings hope to our souls because we know He will never let us down. Putting our trust and hope in others will only disappoint us. Others in our lives may offer words of encouragement and hope, but our true hope can only be found in Christ.

  1. Amy Carmichael
The fourth Christian quote that ignites hope is by Amy Carmichael. Amy Carmichael gives us reason to hope when she says, “It’s great to face the impossible because nothing is impossible if you have to. Wisdom will be given, and strength. When God leads, He always strengthens. As Amy Carmichael told us, nothing is impossible if you want to. If God is showing you a way, even though it seems impossible, it is not. God makes the impossible possible.

The Lord will give us strength and wisdom in all things. This truth will fill our hearts with hope. Nothing is impossible if it is the will of God. Amy Carmichael’s statement is in perfect harmony with Jesus’ words in the Gospel of Mark: “Men cannot, but God cannot; all things are possible with the Lord” (10:27). If God gives us a task, He will give us the strength and wisdom to complete it. Knowing this can bring hope to our weary souls.

  1. Gladys Aylward
The fifth Christian quote that ignites hope is that of evangelist Gladys Aylward. Gladys Aylward said: “If God calls you to China or anywhere else and you are sure of yourself, don’t let anything discourage you. Remember, it was God who called you and it was the same as when He called Moses or Samuel. If God is calling you in a particular area, hope in your heart that he will sustain you to complete the work he has given you to do. As Gladys Aylward told us, “don’t let anything put you off.”

This quote brings hope to our souls because it reminds us that God is our source of hope. Since God is our hope, we can rest assured of His sure promises. As you go through each day, think about the hope you have in Jesus Christ. Gladys Aylward points to the fact that the God who called Moses and Samuel is the same God who called you today. He does not change and his love does not waver. God is totally worthy of our hope.

Hope in the Lord
We can all hope in the Lord as Psalm 42:11 says, “My soul, why have you been cast down? Why am I so confused? Put your hope in the Lord, for I will praise Him again, my Savior and my God. As this psalm tells us, we must put our hope in the Lord. Finding hope in anything else will lead to disappointment. None of us despair because God is our hope, strength, and fortress. We can run to the Lord and rest in the great power of His love.
